The Central Florida Stirkers announced today that they have put their 2008 Season on hold effective immediately.
"After much discussion, we came to the conclusion that our players, our fans, the team and the local soccer community would be better served by taking this year to put together an operating plan that will be sustainable year after year," stated Rodger Marty, one of the operating partners of the team. "The WPSL continues to provide the highest level of competition for women soccer, and we are anxiously looking forward to next season."
The Central Florida Strikers completed their second year in the South Region of the Women's Premier Soccer League.
